Young people trapped by ＂996＂: What kind of employees does aTime:2019-08-07 | Release:Inspirational | Category:Workplace motivation
Attitude is more important than ability
Many people think that as a subordinate employee, the ability to work should be in the first place.
But it is not.
A wise boss often chooses his attitude before his ability.
If the employees with more capable ability are difficult to be managed, and they will go out of their way, even if he has the ability to go through the sky, it is difficult to be reused.
Because of a competent employee, his request for the boss will definitely be high.
He will think that he can control his own people, at least not to lose to his professional ability, but also to have a big boss, give him enough room for growth, and finally receive rewards and praises from time to time, personal honor can not be less.
The boss who can do the above is rare.
Because the boss is also a person, there will be shortcomings.
It may be that an employee needs only one ability to stand out and be able to gain a foothold in the company, but the boss needs more ability to support in order to control the capable talent.
I have a friend who is the department head of the listed company, telling me that I have a newcomer who has just arrived, and I have helped the company to make several big orders.
But after a long time, the newcomer gradually became a bit arrogant, and felt that other colleagues were not as good as themselves, and getting along with everyone began to become less harmonious.
For example, when meeting with a colleague, he will interrupt what he should do without waiting for others to finish;
Or at a team brainstorming session, the opportunity to speak to others at all is not endless.
When other colleagues express different opinions, he often says:
"This is all from my successful experience, do you have it?"
For my friends, this is actually a very headache.
He has to calm down the emotions of other employees and be careful to "care" this talent.
What I can imagine is that if this employee still maintains such an attitude to work, no matter how powerful he is, he will definitely leave.
No company is built by one person.
In the end, it must be the strength of the team.
A 100-pointer is not as good as a group of 80-pointers.
For a 100-point person, offending other people, it is not worthwhile to weigh the pros and cons.
The workplace is a place that relies heavily on teamwork.
If "ability" is the hard power to make yourself stand firm, then "attitude" is the soft power that allows your ability to fully play, spread and even upgrade.
Competence can only be obtained through short-term exploration and practice, but attitude requires a lifetime of practice.
Having said that, what kind of attitude will the boss like?
Three basic points: the attitude of doing things, the attitude of being a person , and the attitude of teamwork.
Attitude to do things
Summarize in one sentence : Even if you don't, you will learn in the shortest possible time.
Ordinary employees have ready-made capabilities, and strong employees have the ability to do so in the future. This future refers to the ability to learn and master new skills.
Because the company is constantly evolving, especially in today's Internet age, the replacement of knowledge is calculated on a monthly basis.
Take my advertising and marketing industry, there are new concepts, new technologies and new platforms every six months.
The short video that was still popular last year, this year has become Vlog;
In the past, the offline flash shop, which has been in full swing in the past, has evolved into a variety of brand experience exhibitions;
The double micro-shake is not new, and the new platform is still emerging. . . . . .
These things are not difficult, but will you take the initiative to understand, take the initiative to study, take the initiative to master?
Former Baidu COO Lu Qi, talked about the current talent market has a very important macro trend:
The overall demand is shifting from the original skill-driven talent to knowledge and innovation-driven talent. So it is increasingly important for a person to learn quickly and apply what they have learned to create new value.
In an era when even the boss is constantly learning to keep moving forward, as an employee, this attitude becomes even more important. The so-called today will not matter, but tomorrow you must.
Summarized in seven words: self-confidence and not humble.
There are many confident people, but few people are confident and still humble.
A person who has been confident for a long time will have an inertia, and a veritable self-confidence will easily become a blind self-confidence, and humility is the power to pull it back.
In the face of what you know, stick to your position, don't make a wall of grass; know what you don't know well, listen to it, don't make a decision, go back to research, and come back and explore.
To do this, it is easy to accumulate a good reputation for yourself, and the boss will appreciate you.
Summarized in one word: good at motivating.
As I said before, as a boss, he must look at the big market.
He will look at an employee and be able to collaborate effectively with other people in the team.
For example, when you are brainstorming, you will pick up other successful cases for your reference.
For example, we will sum up successful experiences from past practice and help you avoid duplication of work;
Or when everyone is unable to do anything, continue to use examples to stimulate everyone to think.
With such a cooperative attitude, any team will be popular, and natural bosses will like you.
Communication is more important than complaining
This experience comes from several of my friends who are bosses.
They all manage teams of more than 20 people, but they don't agree with me to mention a class of employees. It is the most difficult to manage, that is, employees who are unwilling to communicate.
What is the unwillingness to communicate?
That is, if the boss does not ask, you do not know what the employee is doing recently, what difficulties he has encountered, what is wronged in his heart, and how he hopes to develop in his future career.
I have met such a friend with a friend.
When the young man entered the job, everything was fine. My friend would take time to look after him at the beginning, and work with him every week to understand his current situation.
But as the team grows, there are more things. Gradually, my friend doesn't have time to take the initiative to pay attention to him. In many cases, he assigns tasks and then does it quickly. When the results are finally communicated.
Unexpectedly, after three months, the young man handed in a letter of resignation directly, and people did not have a little defense.
My friend is still awkward and feels that he is very good to him. I don't know what went wrong.
I was not willing to ask him. In the end, my friend still heard from other colleagues.
It turned out that this young man had something to do and often ran home. It was just during this time that the company rushed to get a project online and had more overtime work.
He felt that he couldn't stand it, and he didn't dare to talk directly to the boss. After thinking about it, he decided to go to work at home.
But this position is a key position, and people are not good at recruiting.
Suddenly, my friend immediately fell into a passive situation. Finally, he said that he left him for two months and promised him to get off work at 6:30 every day.
When I turned back to my friend, I said that this kind of employee would never dare to recruit again.
I always say that the boss and the employee are not in the opposite roles. Instead, they should support each other and achieve each other.
And communication is a kind of heart.
An employee who is willing to communicate actively can really save a lot of things for the boss and save a lot of time for himself.
Communication with the boss is not complicated, nothing more than a few points: report progress, seek guidance, and grow questions and answers.
Let me talk about the progress of the report.
I once took an intern and took the initiative to do what he did this week, write it down in a concise and meticulous manner, and attach a breakdown of the progress of each thing.
For example like this:
Summary of work from March 1st to March 5th
1. The data search for the A project has just begun;
2. The competing product analysis report for February and February has been completed by more than half, and the first edition is expected to be released on the 8th;
3. The supplier of the B project has already completed the contact, and a summary form will be made in these two days;
I open the mailbox every Monday at 9:30, and the first email will never be his work report.
What can I say? It is simply a peace of mind and peace of mind.
Seeking guidance is even more commonplace.
A good boss must not be arrogant, but allocate work to different subordinates to maximize work efficiency.
Once an employee has encountered difficulties in his work, it is inevitable that the boss will give professional guidance.
Otherwise he would not be able to improve the team's overall performance, which is something deeply tied to his KPI.
Therefore, if you encounter difficulties, don't try to find a way, but take the initiative to knock on the door of the boss's office. If he is a competent boss, he will not refuse your help.
Finally, there is a question of growth. This is the most valuable place to communicate with the boss.
The reason why the boss can be a boss is because he has a richer experience and has deeper insights and insights into the industry.
These are valuable growth wealth, you have to know how to actively explore.
When I first came to work, every time I met with my boss for a business trip and a meal, I would take the initiative to ask questions about career growth.
For example, in which direction can I develop in this position, what kind of work is suitable for the future, and where I need to make up my current job.
When choosing to travel or eat, it is because there is no work to be done right away, and there is enough time to listen to the teachings of the system.
And these things have helped me a lot in my career, and I have more confidence in the face of career choices.
By doing this, you will find that there are fewer complaints at work, and you have learned a lot from the boss.
And this is the meaning of communication.
The big picture is more important than the details
I have written an article about the importance of the details in the workplace.
But if you want to grow fast, just pay attention to the details is not enough, but also to see the overall situation.
Because the boss is watching the big picture.
To get his approval, you must look at the problem at the same level as him.
So what is the overall situation?
The overall situation is the superposition, combination and chemical reaction of details. It is a combined result of all the details.
Say my own personal experience.
When I first started working, I had a bad habit. Every time I read the information, the files and programs were never filed.
I always used it to throw it on the desktop of the computer, or I felt that I had to use it to throw it into the recycling bin and clean it up.
Later, my boss asked me to find a plan for a long time ago. I was unable to find it after a busy morning.
Then she said:
"This is not the first time, if I am a customer, I am already impatient."
I was shocked at the time and wondered how she would be so angry about such a small thing. As a result, she told me that I didn't like the habit of organizing documents for a long time.
Can't find it twice, let other colleagues help you to turn it over.
But if this has been the case, delaying the work hours of others, let the customers know, we will feel that we do not pay attention to each other.
"Even a simple project file is not willing to pay attention to sorting out. How can a larger project be handed over to you in the future? How do customers know if you will keep the confidential documents so handy, and one day you accidentally leaked out?" ”
This kind of questioning is not unreasonable, because the company has had similar things before.
At that time, there was a newcomer who had just arrived, accidentally sending a customer's unpublished product information to a WeChat group. As a result, there were people in the group who had media. In the afternoon, someone saw it on the Internet. product picture.
Fortunately, this information is not the final version, and the customer also came out to make timely rumors.
But because of this, the company was fined a large amount of liquidated damages.
The reason for this result is that this employee never labels and categorizes PPT files, and often gets what is what, resulting in the wrong use of product information as a public relations manuscript.
The seemingly small details may eventually affect the overall situation.
And to judge whether an employee has the potential to grow, the important criterion is to see if he can deduce the trend of the overall situation through the change of details.
When you look at a single detail, you may not find anything.
But if you think about the details in a multi-dimensional, grand background, you will find new clues.
This is called a detailed chemical reaction.
Take the example just now, don't file files or name them. In the current situation, it is a waste of time. You have to repeat your search every time.
But if we stretch the timeline (always keep this bad habit) and broaden the object roles of these documents (such as colleagues, bosses, customers, and even the boss of the customer), we will realize what is the quantitative change.
Don't put the problem at a single point on the matter, but put the problem in a multidimensional space to see trends and changes.
Find the various related parties of a single event, and combine them in the expected length of time in the future, and then through rational reasoning and association, finally outline a picture that can be justified.
This is called the overall situation.
This passage sounds a bit uncomfortable. Everyone can come back and forth when encountering a specific detail problem. There may be different feelings.
I usually do this kind of "details-big picture" thinking practice, and when I encounter something worth pondering, I will continue to ask myself:
Is this trivial matter likely to have a big impact?
If I change one of the factors in the event, will there be different results?
If things go completely in the opposite direction, will there be a fundamental change in the overall situation?
This is actually helping us to organize and deduct our thoughts.
Finally, a brief summary of what kind of employees do the boss like best?
Consider three angles:
Attitude is more important than ability;
communication is more important than complaint; the
overall situation is more important than the details;
I hope to have some inspiration for everyone.
